an introduction to structures of power

Welcome to the Cathedral 2009 Blog

Hi Folks ~ This is the space where we react to what we are studying, reflect on what we are learning, and respond to one another on all the above.

Each student is to post an entry in the appropriate area for each of the cities in which we stop. Thus the entries will include reference to several sites and to (perhaps) several changes of position with respect to the sites in total. Each city has a prompt posted and, in general, students are to respond to the prompt. Merely responding to the prompt is considered B- to B work, while going above and beyond merely answering the questions is expected for A work. (See the ‘Students - How this blog is graded’ link.

After students have posted their responses/reflections/musings, others, including visitors and guests, are asked, nay expected, to comment in productive ways. Disagreement is encouraged, but must be undertaken in a respectful manner. This is a conversation, not an argument.

In addition to the student postings, Mr Troxler and I will be posting pictures and a few comments of our own in the ‘checking in’ section. We encourage those who are vicariously wandering with us to keep an eye on this section, and to join in our conversation.

The picture above is of St Peter’s Basilica in Rome and was taken just before sunset from a bridge over the Tiber just a couple of blocks from our hotel.
